In plain English

NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board wants a single lead provider for each of two areas, Coventry and Warwickshire, to design, mobilise and run a full urgent care system covering NHS 111, GP out of hours, urgent treatment centres, emergency department streaming, same-day emergency care, diagnostics and community response. The contract runs for 5 years from 1 September 2027, with an option to extend for up to a further 5 years, and is worth up to £203,957,880 across both lots.

Good fit for: Large NHS trusts or major healthcare consortiums able to run a whole urgent care system, not individual clinics or small providers

The catch (with the notice's own words):
  • Must act as single accountable lead provider across the whole urgent care pathway, not just one service The ICB is not seeking a provider of isolated urgent care components.
  • Needs scale and system leadership to integrate many interdependent services and current providers Providers must therefore bring together all interdependent services, healthcare professionals and current Providers, including urgent primary care, community response, and mental health crisis interfaces, into a coherent, accountable and high-performing model.
